Chef's Choice Gourmet Waffle Mix

great waffle mix!
we enjoyed eating the waffles from this mix. they cooked up beautifully, crispy and tasty. we'll definitely use the mix again.
the supplier is dependable.

Best waffle mix for sure!
I got a waffle maker and this waffle mix many years ago for Christmas from my parents. The waffle mix is soooooo good that my family makes me serve them for breakfast every Saturday morning as a treat. I have tried so many other mixes that people have told me about and they do not compare at all. They are very light but full tasting. We even take leftovers and the kids eat it for breakfast the next day. I use eggbeaters instead of eggs and applesauce instead of oil. They are still very light and tasty! They cook on my wafflemaker in less than three minutes. Gotta keep coming back to Amazon for more when we are done as they don't sell it in the stores.

Basically flour
I bought this with my waffle maker only to find that I need to add all the ingredients that I would have to add to plain flour. And the recipe that came with my waffle maker using plain flour makes better waffles.

Chef's Choice 120 Diamond Hone 3-Stage Professional Knife Sharpener, Platinum

Wow, it really works
I was very suspicious of this guy, but having actually used it I can only recommend it.

We've had one in my house for quite some time. My mother bought it because she is not interested in learning the ins and outs of knife maintenance and read several great reviews of the 120.

I was suspicious, mainly from bad experience with cheezy knife sharpening gadgets, but also because my mom's knives, which had been through the Chef's Choice, always had crappy edges. I had made something of a habit of looking sideways at the Chef's Choice 120 on our kitchen counter.

I finally read one too many good reviews of this product (when I wasn't even looking for them, they just seem to pop up here and there if you read enough about cooking and cutlery), I decided to give it a shot on a Henckel's 5-star Santoku that had lost it's edge. I love the size and shape of a santoku, but it had gotten dull and was superceded by a Kasumi chef's knife I received as a gift. I figured...

GRRRreat
I have had mine for 3 months and it's greatest item I've bought. I sharpened old knives that I had put in the back of drawers becuase they were so dull from other hand sharpeners.

Now, it brought to life all my knives and even the serrated knives and the cleaver. My husband is a charter captain, he fillets large salmon and trout that his customers caught He uses the electric serrated knife and had been sending them in to be sharpen, but found buying new blades was cheaper. So, I gave it a try and sharpened 3 sets that were dull. He's amazed how well it cuts now. Use the last slot for serrated edges.

A Great Sharpener
I have had this model for some time now, and it has preformed without flaw. This particular model (#120) was highly rated in the last issue of Fine Cooking. There is very little metal loss and the edge is far better than a factory one. I think so much of this that I am buying another one for a birthday gift. You will not be disappointed.

Chef's Choice 470 SteelPro

Easy to use steel for non experts
So after reading the one other review of this product I felt compelled to defend this little gadget.A Sharpening steel of course doesn't actually sharpen a knife.Rather it realigns the steel to the proper angle.Traditional sharpening steels require you to hold your knife at an approximately 22% angle and stroke down the steel. Then alternating sides each time maintaining the exact same angle. How many non professional people can hold this exact angle? This gadget helps the non pro get a perfect steeling through the use of angled channels in the device.Simply put you cant screw it up.I would agree the steelpro is not built like a tank but then again I'm not using it as a hammer.I did take off one star for cosmetic reasons. As you draw the knife out of the steelpro it's quite easy to mar the finish.

Excellent for maintaining sharp knives
My husband and I have been very happy with this sharpener, which we've used for more about a year now. If you've let your knives go and they're quite dull, this SteelPro is NOT what you need. Get your knives sharpened, and then use the SteelPro to keep them that way...that's how a sharpening steel is meant to be used. I do have a Chef's Choice power sharpening station. It's a good sharpener, but too noisy and too inconvenient to use frequently. We use the SteelPro almost every time we use a cooking knife; we keep it right next to the knife rack, and give each blade a few strokes on each side before cutting or chopping. Since we started doing this, the knives have been in daily use and have stayed sharp. We do take good care of our knives, using appropriate cutting surfaces and storing them on a magnetic bar so they don't get dinged.

Works like a champ
This is a terrific steel, very foolproof. I use this regularly on my chef knife that gets constant use, and it dramatically reduces the time between sharpens. For the money this item is tough to beat.

I can't really understand why another reviewer would call this item dangerous, while the device itself is lightweight, with firm pressure applied with one hand while straightening the knife with the other, I can't imagine a much safer process. This tool also grips my kitchen counters just fine.

Chef's Choice 310 Compact Diamond Hone Sharpener

Superb, but consider the next model up IF...
If you're anything like us, you probably spent a lot of money on your knives a while back but secretly ask yourself "why did I bother?" because they just don't special anymore. That's because they've never been as sharp as when you bought them - something this gizmo can DEFINITELY change.

This is a superb knife sharpener - Cooks Magazine rated the Chefs Choice absolutely the best electric model. It puts the kind of edge on your old knives that makes you realize you'd forgotten the true meaning of "sharp".

There's only one flaw in their basic model, though. If your knives have gotten very dull, or you want to be a hero once in a while and put a better-than-new edge on a friend's knives, buy the model 110 instead. That model adds a heavier "grinder" blade (seen on the far left of sharpener in the picture) that can take off more metal quicly while creating the basic, third bevel on their "trizor" edge. Once you have that...

Not as good as a professional sharpening or by hand but...
Even though I normally use a diamond sharpening block and know how to check the angles of the bevel, I have to admit, this device is quick and easy.

It gives an acceptable edge as long as you use it according to directions. It is convenient, as it can sit on your counter or be pulled out of the cupboard in a jiffy. So you tend to keep your knives sharp. The problem with hand sharpening is that it is finicky work that takes time. This is faster and easier, so you tend to do it oftener.

A sharp knife is actually a safer knife as it cuts easily. If you force a dull knife, it can slip and make a nasty cut. (The worst cut I ever saw was with a knife too dull to cut wax. It had no edge, but made a nasty, torn gash. The user was forcing the dull edge through wax and got injured.) So keep your knives sharp and in a block and use them with respect. This sharpener will certainly help you do that.

Fast, easy, very good results!
I have been sharpening knives for over 45 years and this is the fastest, easiest way to get an excellent multi-angle edge on ALL of your knives. I orginally purchased a Model 300 about 12 years ago. The 310 is much better because it sharpens all of the way to the handle, a big issue with small blade pocket knives.
If you like sharp knives and either do not have the skill or the time to do it by hand get yourself one of these.

Electric International Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener

Fast, Sharp, fool proof, and built to last
Chefs Choice by Edgecraft is so easy to use right out of the box. My husband did a lot of research online before deciding on this knife sharpener. It has excellent instructions and in less than 30 minutes he had all the very dull knives in our kitchen sharp as new again!

Chef's Choice M110
I did quite a bit of research about different knife sharpeners before I purchased this one. This is a very good knife sharpener. It is heavy which indicates good construction to me. It is my first knife sharpener. My Chicago Cutlery knives are now sharp! I am a woman, this is pretty easy to use.

Perfect replacement for 40 year old model
Excellent product, but you must follow the directions to get really sharp knives - take the time to do it right

Chef's Choice 662 International Professional Electric Food Slicer with 8.6-Inch Diameter Blade

Top Notch Home Slicer
I first ordered ( November 2003) a model 645 Veri-tilt unit but was disapointed because the "travel" on the slicer was not adaquate to slice my much loved prosciutto. The blade was only 7 inches and was serrated. It also lacked a blade cover so I was sure it would "drag" when slicing. (At $20.00 a pound for good prosciutto I didn't even try!)

In December 2003, I bought the The larger model 662 with the 8.6 inch smooth blade was a far better choice! It had a covered blade that only exposes the cutting edge of the blade to the meat surface. This is also a much safer configuration then the "exposed" blades found on the less expensive models.

The unit is solidly built and appears to be of a very high quality. The travel on the slicing cariage is long enough to cut most meats. The "rump" side of the average prosciutto is still a bit larger than the travle distance of the slicer but this is easily overcome by trimming the sides of the meat to slightly narrow it...

Decent, but some flaws
The 662 is a decent unit although I've never owned another electric food slicer to compare it to. Cleaning is definately an issue. But after many uses I've got it down to about 10 - 15 mins. To clean, it requires an Allen wrench (provided) and a Phillips screwdriver. You have to semi-disassemble the unit and I plop it in the sink, hoze down the food particles, spray with disinfectant and let sit, then hoze down again then dry with paper towels. It's a bit heavy and awkward, but again just figure on 10 - 15 mins to clean.

As for use, it cuts remarkably. You can get razor thin slices and will cut an entire ham in minutes. I have an autistic son who won't eat anything but ham sandwiches at school, so I use this about every week. It helps to have other uses because I store it in the garage (no way to store it even on my ample counter space because of the size) and when you figure on set-up and cleaning that's at least 20 minutes. I love beef jerky, so I use this to...

An excellent semi-pro slicer
I purchased this slicer for use in the hospitality rooms of conventions, which entails slicing a few hundred pounds of meat over the course of a couple of days.

The unit performed flawlessly, cutting the final piece of meat just as smoothly as the first. The motor ran cool and quiet, the meat slider was smooth and fluid, and the blade cleanly cut everything from pastrami to provalone.

Cleaning can be an issue as the clearances under the blade are small, but I was able to keep it at the same state that I maintained my professional slicer years ago at a sandwich shop I worked for. I recommend completely dismantling it after heavy use for sanitation and longevity.

Summary: It's not a $1500 slicer, but for $400 it can't be beat. I would say that you could probably even get away with this unit at a small deli with how admirably it performed under the grueling trial I put it through last weekend. It might be a touch overkill for the average home chef...

Chef's Choice 667 International Professional Electric Food Slicer with 10-Inch Diameter Blade

Almost "Professional"
The Chef's Choice 667 slicer performs as advertised with its sturdy construction, powerful motor, large 10" belt-driven blade, and smooth quiet operation. This slicer does indeed produce deli-thin slices!

Out of the Box

The Chef's Choice 667 slicer comes out of the box with a 10" stainless-steel blade, blade sharpener, owner's manual, Allen wrench, small plastic serving tray, and temporary blade guard used for handling the sharp blade.

The plastic blade guard easily screws onto the blade using two large plastic knobs. This temporary guard covers the razor sharp edge of the blade and makes it easy to handle when it's removed from the slicer or during cleaning.

The plastic food tray is used to catch the food as it's being sliced, but it's too small and does not fit squarely under the blade.

The Allen wrench is used for removing the main blade guard during cleaning.

The blade sharpener is attached to the top of the unit and is held in place by a thumb screw. Simply...

Go Ahead & Spend the Money, You Won't Be Sorry!
This is the second food slicer I've owned in my life. The first was a Waring food slicer I picked up at Lowes for about a hundred bucks. I returned it the next day. So I came to Amazon.com and decided to buy this model. While it is an invested in money and kitchen space, I'm very happy with it. It slices through meat, cheese, and veges like they were nothing. Plenty of hand guards and saftey features to keep you from slicing your fingers off too. The blade is extremely sharp though and should be handled with extreme care. Just remember, don't put your fingers near the blade while it's spinning for any reason. It does come with a plastic carry case which screws on to the blade so it can be removed for cleaning. I wouldn't recommend handling the blade with out it as the blade is razor sharp and rather heavy. The machine is easy to clean and the blade can be removed and replaced in a few minutes. It's simple, it's easy, and it's slices great. I bought some roast beef, ham, and turkey at...

Frustrating to use
My original review is down below. I'm updating this review after 6 months of ownership. The basic problem with this slicer is that the cutting blade is too small in diameter. If you're slicing anything that would require a slicer, like a roast, or a turkey breast, the food ends up hitting the frame behind the blade. This causes the food to be sucked between the rear of the blade and the frame. The blade loses its sharpness very quickly, so instead of slicing my turkey breast it shredded it. I end up having to slice very slowly, so I can grab the food before it gets caught between the rear of the blade and the frame. Its actually a pain to clean. So basically I've used it 4 times in 6 months. I usually stand there and stare at it for a few minutes debating in my head whether I want to haul that beast out, and then having to clean it afterwards. I usually end up using a carving knife.

I originally bought the Waring Pro FS150 at Best Buy, and as usual, I read the reviews AFTER...
