OK, but expensive for what it is
I must have read the description incorrectly, because I thought this would heat water to a set temperature for different things, such as green tea or hot cocoa. Wrong. It heats until the water boils, and it's difficult to tell when that happens unless you wait until the kettle turns itself off. The minimum amount of water one can heat is a pretty large amount - enough for a large mug. So, if you want to heat a smaller amount than that, you won't be able to do that in this kettle.
It is pretty to look at, but it is heavy and the water gauge on the outside is difficult to see. It might not be a big deal for the younger set, but if you have weak wrists, arthritis, or just can't lift heavy objects very well, it could be a problem. Perhaps younger folks would be able to see the water level better, but it is so small and since the glass is somewhat tinted, that I think most people will have difficulty reading it.
The stainless steel interior is nice, and it doesn't...
Form Wins Out Over Function a little too much in Uber-Stylish yet Surprisingly Basic Kettle
This kettle represents a "nice try" by Panasonic. I applaud its audacious design -- two words rarely heard in the same sentence as the word "kettle."
The unit is visually striking, eschewing the curvilinear forms of most kettles in favor of a rectangle with rounded edges.
If you are attracted by the design, you will probably look next at the price tag and be instantly repulsed.
Let's get this out of the way: this kettle is absurdly and obscenely overpriced.
The only reason I bought one was that I was able to get it at a very deep discount: even at half-off retail, it is still overpriced.
That said, I find it to be an attractive, seemingly-sturdy appliance, albeit with very few of the bells and whistles commonly found even on inexpensive kettles.
PROS:
- Unusual angular design
- Relatively quiet operation
- Sides remain (mostly) cool to the touch during operation, so no more burned...
A kitchen dream come true!
I am in love with this product, I looked for it for 8 months and finally found it here. And now it's in my kitchen :D
